Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Gray: Cut ONE (1) 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will flank the White 4 3/4″ square. They’ll also be paired with the results of the Rose 3 7/8″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Rose: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the Gray 7 1/4″ square. Then they’ll flank the Rose 3 1/2″ x 6 7/8″ rectangles as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Rose: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ x 6 7/8″ rectangles. (These are paired with the White 3 1/2″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 4 3/4″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the results of the Gray 7 1/4″ square.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. On the back side of each square, draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Rose 3 1/2″ x 6 7/8″ rectangles which will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Rust: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the results of the Rust 3 1/2″ square, plus it’s also flanked by the results of the White 3 1/2″ square, which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Rust: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ squares. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles. (These will flank the Rust 3 1/2″ square in the center of this quilt block. Together with the results of the White 3 1/2″ square they’ll create ONE (1) Square in a Square.)
  • Rust: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These will flank the White 3 1/2″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Brown, Tan & Peach (or colors of your choosing): Cut FOUR (4) 2 5/8″ squares of each color. (These are paired with each other to form a “frame” around the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. They’re flanked by the results of the Rust 4 1/4″ squares.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles. (These will flank the Rust 3 1/2″ square in the center of this quilt block. Together with the results of the Rust 3 1/2″ square they’ll create ONE (1) Square in a Square.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These will flank TWO (2) sides of the Brown 3 1/2″ squares as needed for this quilt block

  • Brown: Cut ONE (1) 2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangle. (This is paired with the Rust 2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangle. Then it’s flanked by the results of the Brown 2 3/8″ squares as well as the results of the White 3 1/2″ square. Once the center is sewn together it’ll create ONE (1) Square in a Square.)
  • Brown: Cut ONE (1) 2 3/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles. (This will flank TWO (2) ends of the Brown 2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangle. It’ll also be paired with the results of the Rust 2 3/8″ square. Once the the center of this quilt block is sewn together it’ll create ONE (1) Square in a Square.)

  • Rust, Tan & Peach (or colors of your choosing): Cut FOUR (4) 2 5/8″ squares of each color. (These are paired with each other to form a “frame” around the center of this quilt block.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Blue: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the “Pink Courthouse Steps” blocks & they’ll create FOUR (4) Square in a Squares, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Blue: Cut THREE (3) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. You only need EIGHT (8) of these triangles for this quilt block. (These are paired with the results of the White 5 1/4″ squares which will create FIVE (5) Quarter-Square Triangles. ONE (1) of these Quarter-Square Triangles is the center of this quilt block. The remaining FOUR (4) of these Quarter-Square Triangles are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Lt. Pink: Cut SIXTEEN (16) 1 1/4″ squares. (These are the cornerstones of the “Pink Courthouse Steps” as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Lt. Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 1 7/8″ squares. (These are the centers of the “Pink Courthouse Steps” as need for this quilt block.
  • Pink: Cut SIXTEEN (16) 1 1/4″ x 1 7/8″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Lt. Pink cornerstones for each of the “Pink Log Cabins” & they’ll flank the center Lt. Pink 1 7/8″ center squares of the “Pink Courthouse Steps” for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut THREE (3) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. You only need EIGHT (8) of these triangles for this quilt block. (These are paired with the results of the Blue 5 1/4″ squares which will create FIVE (5) Quarter-Square Triangles. ONE (1) of these Quarter-Square Triangles is the center of this quilt block. The remaining FOUR (4) of these Quarter-Square Triangles are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
