Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Aquamarine: Cut FIVE (5) 4 1/2″ squares. (ONE (1) of these will be the center of this quilt block. The other FOUR (4) will be flanked by the results of the Gray 4 7/8″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
- Gray: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 4 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Gray 4 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)

If you make TWELVE (12) “Snowball #1 Quilt Blocks,” you will end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished, 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.
Are these blocks 12 1/2” before sewing onto other blocks then measure 12”? I need 12 1/2” unfinished blocks to combine with others I already have measuring 12 1/2” unfinished.
Hi Patricia! Yes ma’am! All of the quilt blocks, that are found on this blog, are supposed to be 12 1/2″ unfinished & 12″ finished!
