Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (precise 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Blue: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square. (This will be the center of this quilt block.)
  • Blue: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are paired with the White
    5 1/4″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. (These will be flanked by the results of the White 3″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Square in a Square’s. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut EIGHT (8) 3″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the Blue 3 1/2″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Square in a Square’s. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are paired with the Blue
    5 1/4″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)

(These will flank the Purple 3 1/2″ squares, which will create FIVE (5) Square in a Square’s. FOUR (4) of them will be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.   • Yellow: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the White 5 1/4″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)

  • Light Blue: Cut TEN (10) 3″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 3 1/4″ squares, which will create the second Square in a Square portion’s of this quilt block.)
  • Light Green: Cut FIVE (5) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are flanked by the results of the White 3 1/4″ squares, which will create the first Square in a Square portion’s of this quilt block.)
  • Light Green: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the White 5 1/4″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FIVE (5) 3 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the Light Green
    2 1/2″ squares, which will create the first Square in a Square portion’s of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the Light Green 5 1/4″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
