Martha Washington Star Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Red: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Blue 3 1/2″ squares & the Red 3 1/2″ squares, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 7 1/4″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Blue: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 1/2″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. These will also be the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. (These will be the four corner’s of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/2″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Blue 3 1/2″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. These will also be the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are flanked by the results of the Blue
3 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)

Please send me the sewing instructions for the Martha Washington Star. At one time I had this pattern but after three moves have lost it. I love this block. Thanks you for your attention to this pattern request.
Hi Kay! I’m not real sure how you expect me to send you the pattern for the “Martha Washington Star” since it’s right here on my blog. If you look at it again I’ve edited it & made it easier (I hope) to cut & sew together. To print the pattern, you should have the option to do that, in your browser. Just make sure that the only thing on the page is the two “Martha Washington Star” quilt blocks.
