Heart Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (precise 1/4″ seam allowance):
(Editor’s note: This is a scrappy quilt block, so just choose whatever scraps you want to use, and cut your bits and pieces out of them, so you end up with the quilt block shown above.)
- Red: Cut FIVE (5) 2 1/2″ squares.
- Turquoise: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares.
- Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares.
- Purple: Cut TWO (2) 2 1/2″ squares.
- Yellow: Cut TWO (2) 2 1/2″ squares.
- Green: Cut TWO (2) 2 1/2″ squares.
- Yellow: Cut ONE (1) 2 3/4″ squares. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles.
- Red: Cut ONE (1) 2 3/4″ square. On the back side of the square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time.
- Red: Cut ONE (1) 2 3/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles. (You will only need ONE (1) of these triangles for this quilt block.)
- Turquoise: Cut ONE (1) 2 3/4″ square. On the back side of the square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time.
- Turquoise: Cut ONE (1) 2 3/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles. (You will only need ONE (1) of these triangles for this quilt block.)
- Green: Cut ONE (1) 2 3/4″ square. On the back side of the square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time.
- Green: Cut ONE (1) 2 3/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles. (You will only need ONE (1) of these triangles for this quilt block.)
- Purple: Cut ONE (1) 2 3/4″ square. On the back side of the square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time.
- Purple: Cut ONE (1) 2 3/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles. (You will only need ONE (1) of these triangles for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/4″ squares. (These will be paired with the Red, Turquoise, Green and Purple 2 3/4″ squares to create half-square triangles. You will only need ONE (1) half square triangle from each of the colors to make this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 6 3/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles.
