The Blackstone Valley Heritage Quilt Guild is a quilt guild that established around 1988 with six members getting together to share their quilting experiences. We now have grown to 60 plus members and encourage anyone to join that wants to share and learn about quilts and sewing.

We meet once a month with a program and have workshops each month to learn how to make wonderful creations. We sew for charities for those in need, from nursing homes, hospitals, children, men, and women. Where there is a need we donate to as many as we can. We have sewn hearts for breast cancer patients, fidget quilts for Alzheimer’s, dolls for children waiting for surgery, quilts for anyone that could use a hug.

We have BOM, challenge, mystery shop hop trip, treasure room, staycation retreat, just to name a few of the programs we offer. Our members fill in where needed to keep the guild functioning. Our meetings are welcoming and we enjoy learning from each other. Show and tell is fascinating, there is so much talent in what is shown!

The Resort Quilt Club in Arizona started about 25 years ago. There were about 8 members at that time. We have grown to a group of nearly 70 members now!

They’re making my Cinnamon-teen Chocolate Figs & Roses Block of the Month (BOM) quilt except they’re making it as a Block of the Week (BOW) quilt!

The Club meets primarily in Jan., Feb., & March of each year. And has done a BOW quite successfully when they meet! In 2019, about 40 of the 75 members completed the BOW. In addition: There are a number of other weekly classes, speakers, challenge projects, service projects, Quilts of Valor & many other quilted blessings!

“Our membership is down this year, because our Canadian gals weren’t able to come this year, due to the Covid virus. We number in the 40’s this year.” says the Resort Club President.

About 25 people are in some stage of making the BOW’s. Some are doing it from their home states. Some are doing more than one block each week. Some are using all the lights, mediums & darks. Some are using three colors. But all are having fun!

My Free BOM Quilt Pattern, “Botanical Beauty” Meets a Quilt Guild in Canada

Quilt Therapy Posted on August 2, 2018 by TK HarrisonAugust 2, 2018

My sister site, BOMquilts.com, has been in existence since 2006. The same time that this blog has been online. In all those years, I’ve had numerous quilt guilds, quilt groups and individuals ask me for permission to use my patterns. I always agree, giving them two conditions:

  1. You must give out my URL to each member who is participating in the project. If that isn’t feasible (usually because the members aren’t computer literate), when you print and/or copy my pattern, my website URL and copyright remain intact on the paperwork you hand out to those who are making my patterns.
  2. Send me a photograph (either a physical one or one attached to an email) of the finished products, with permission to post them here on my blog and/or on my BOMquilts.com’s website.

And in the past 12 years, NOT. ONE. SINGLE. quilt group or guild has sent me a photograph. Not one!

That is until a couple of months ago. There is a quilt guild in Canada who’s using one of my patterns, with the same conditions and permissions I’ve sent to numerous people throughout the past 12 years, as a mystery quilt. I do not want to name which pattern as, gee, it’s a mystery! I was flabbergasted when I received a photograph of the first set of blocks that they made! Speechless! I will show you the blocks after they’ve made three, so in two more months.

The other pattern by a group of quilters in Canada used “Botanical Beauty,” my 2016 block of the month quilt located at BOMquilts.com.

The quilt tops shown below were all made by the Haldimand Quilter’s Guild at Hagersville, Ontario, Canada

(ED: Don’t mind the wrinkles, it’s just the way the quilt tops were held when they were photographed.)
