Trails Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Yellow: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. (ONE (1) of these is the lower left-hand corner of this quilt block. Another ONE (1) is the upper right-hand corner of this quilt block. The remaining TWO (2) of these are paired with the Brown 3 1/2″ triangles, which will create ONE (1) Four-Patch, which is the center of this quilt block as needed to sew it together.)
- Brown: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. (ONE (1) of these is the lower right-hand corner of this quilt block. Another ONE (1) is the upper left-hand corner of this quilt block. The remaining TWO (2) of these are paired with the Yellow 3 1/2″ triangles, which will create ONE (1) Four-Patch, which is the center of this quilt block as needed to sew it together.)
- Orange: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are flanked by the results of the White 3 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These resulting triangles will flank the resulting triangles of the Orange 5 1/4″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)

Sew TWELVE (12) “Trails Quilt Blocks” to end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished & 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.
