Five Spot Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Navy Blue: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the Teal 2 7/8″ squares. They’re also paired with the White 2 1/2″ squares. Once all are sewn together they’ll be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- Teal: Cut FOUR (4) 2 /8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles are paired with the results of the Navy Blue 4 7/8″ squares. They’re also paired with the White 2 1/2″ squares. Once all are sewn together they’ll be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- Lt. Blue: Cut FIVE (5) 3 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the results of the Fuchsia
2 7/8″ squares, which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square, in the center of this quilt block.) - Fuchsia: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank the Lt. Blue 3 3/8″ square in the center of this quilt block. Once they’re all sewn together they’ll create ONE (1) Square in a Square.
- Fuchsia:Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles are paired with the Lt. Blue 3 3/8″ squares. Which will partially create FOUR (4) Square in a Squares.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will be paired with the Navy Blue 4 7/8″ squares in the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. They’re also paired with the White 2 1/2″ squares that are in the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)

Sew TWELVE (12) “Five Spot Quilt Blocks” to end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished & 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.
