Friendship Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Yellow: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Rust 2 1/2″ squares as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- Rust: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. They’re paired with the Yellow 2 1/2″ squares as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- Rust: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles will flank the results of the Rust
2 7/8″ squares. They’ll also flank the White 3 3/8″ squares & the White 3 3/8″ x 9″ rectangle. All are needed to sew this quilt block together.) - Rust: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 5 1/4″ square which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese. They’ll also be flanked by the results of the Rust 5 1/4″ squares as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the White 3 3/8″ squares, which will create TWO (2) Snowball Corners, which will help sew the center of this quilt block together.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are a paired with the White 2 7/8″ x 9″ rectangle, which will create TWO (2) Snowball Corners, which will help sew the center of this quilt block together.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are flanked by the results of the Rust 2 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 3 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares, which will create TWO (2) Snowball Corners, as needed to sew the center of this quilt block together.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 3 3/8″ x 9″ rectangle. (This is paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares, which will create TWO (2) Snowball Corners, as needed to sew the center of this quilt block together.)
