Granny’s Star Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

• Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 1 3/4″ squares. (These are paired with the Dk. Blue 1 3/4″ squares.)
• Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 1 3/4″ x 2 7/8″ rectangles. (These are paired with the White 1 3/4″ x 2 7/8″ rectangles.)
• Lt. Blue: Cut EIGHT (8) 1 3/4″ x 2 7/8″ rectangles. (These are paired with on TWO (2) sides the Dk. Blue 1 3/4″ squares. They’re also paired with the results of the White 2″ squares.)
• Blue: Cut ONE (1) 6″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are flanked by the results of the White 2″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)
• Dk. Blue: Cut ONE (1) 2 7/8″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s paired with the White 1 3/4″ x 2 7/8″ rectangles.)
• Dk. Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 1 3/4″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. They are paired with the Lt. Blue 1 3/4″ x 2 7/8″ rectangles.)
• Dk. Blue: Cut TWELVE (12) 1 3/4″ squares. (These are paired with the Pink 1 3/4″ squares, then they’re paired with the Pink 1 3/4″ x 2 7/8″ rectangles, they are also paired with the White 1 3/4″ squares. In addition they are paired with the White 1 3/4″ x 2 7/8″ rectangles. They are also flanked by the results of the White 2″ squares.)
• White: Cut FOUR (4) 1 3/4″ squares. (These are paired with the Dk. Blue 1 3/4″ squares, they’re also paired with the White 1 3/4″ x 2 7/8″ rectangles.)
• White: Cut FOUR (4) 1 3/4″ x 2 7/8″ rectangles. (These are paired with the White 1 3/4″ squares, they’re also paired with the Dk. Blue 1 3/4″ squares.)
• White: Cut EIGHT (8) 1 3/4″ x 2 7/8″ rectangles. (Every TWO (2) of these are paired with each other. Next they’re paired with the White 2″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Snowball Corners. Then they’re paired with the Dk. Blue 2 7/8″ square in the center of this quilt block.)
• White: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the White 1 3/4″ x 2 7/8″ rectangles which will create EIGHT (8) Snowball Corners. They will also flank the results of the Blue 6″ square which will help create FOUR (4) Flying Geese..)
• White: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank the results of the Dk. Blue 6″ square, which will help create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)

• Dk. Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 1 3/4″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. They are paired with the Lt. Blue 1 3/4″ x 2 7/8″ rectangles.)
