Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Lt. Blue: Cut TWO (2) 2 5/8″ x 4 3/4″ rectangles. (These will flank the results of the White
4 1/4″ squares & they’ll help create a “frame” around the Square in a Square at the center of this quilt block.) - Lt. Blue: Cut TWO (2) 2 5/8″ x 9″ rectangles. (These will flank the results of the White
4 1/4″ squares & they’ll help create a “frame” around the Square in a Square at the center of this quilt block.) - Blue: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the results of the White 4 1/4″ square which will create a Square in a Square.)
- Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These will flank the White 3 1/2″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block & they’ll be flanked by the results of the Blue 3 7/8″ squares.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These will flank the Blue 3 1/2″ square which will create a Square in a Square. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)
Snowfall Quilt
If you make TWELVE (12) “Snowfall Quilt Blocks,” you’ll end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished, 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.
