Halloween Pumpkin Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Green: Cut ONE (1) 1″ square. (This is the “stem” of the “Pumpkin.” It’s paired with the Green/Yellow Snowball Corner as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- Green: Cut ONE (1) 1″ square. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (This square is paired with the Yellow 1″ square, which will create ONE (1) Snowball Corner, as needed to sew the “stem” of the “Pumpkin” together.)
- Yellow: Cut ONE (1) 1″ square. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (This square is paired with the Green 1″ square, which will create ONE (1) Snowball Corner, as needed to sew the “stem” of the “Pumpkin” together.)
- Yellow: Cut FOUR (4) 1 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank the results of the Orange 2 3/4″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- Yellow: Cut TWO (2) 1 3/4″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the left & right bottom corners of the Orange 6 1/2″ x 12 1/2″ rectangle. Which will create TWO (2) Snowball Corners as needed to sew this quilt block together.
- Yellow: Cut TWO (2) 1 1/2″ x 3 1/4″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Green 1″ square & the Green/Yellow Half-Square Triangle–the “Stem” of the “Pumpkin”–as needed to sew it together. They’re also the upper left-hand & the upper right-hand corners of this quilt block.)
- Orange: Cut ONE (1) 1 3/4″ x 7 1/4″ rectangle. (This is paired with the Yellow 1 3/4″ squares which will create TWO (2) Snowball Corners. It’s the “Lid” of the “Pumpkin” as needed to sew it together.)
- Orange: Cut ONE (1) 2 3/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are flanked by the results of the Yellow 1 5/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- Orange: Cut ONE (1) 6 1/2″ x 12 1/2″ rectangle. (This is paired with the Yellow 1 7/8″ squares which will create TWO (2) Snowball Corners. It’s also paired with the results of the Orange
2 3/4″ squares as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
