Castle Star Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Pink: Cut ONE (1) 4 3/4″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block.)
- Pink: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are first paired with the results of the Red 3 7/8″ squares. Then they’re paired with the results of the Red 7 1/4″ square. When they’re all sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles.)
- Red: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are first paired with the results of the Pink 3 7/8″ squares. Then they’re paired with the results of the Red 7 1/4″ square. Whey they’re all sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles.)
- Red: Cut ONE (1) 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are paired with the results of the Pink
3 7/8″ squares. They’re also paired with the results of the Pink 3 7/8″ squares. When they’re all sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles.) - White: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. They’re paired with the results of the Red 3 7/8″ square that’s part of the Split Half-Square Triangle.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are between the Quarter Square Triangles that are part of this quilt block.)

Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are first paired with the results of the Blue 3 7/8″ squares. Then they’re paired with the results of the Red 7 1/4″ square. When they’re all sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles.)
