Starlight Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Orange: Cut TWO (2) 3 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 3/8″ squares. They’re also paired with the Orange/Peach Quarter-Square Triangle in the center of this quilt block. Once all are sewn together they’ll create ONE (1) Nine-Patch.)
- Orange: Cut ONE (1) 2 7/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles. (These triangles are paired with the results of the Peach 2 7/8″ square which will create ONE (1) Quarter-Square Triangle in the center of this quilt block.)
- Peach: Cut TWO (2) 3 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 3/8″ squares. They’re also paired with the Orange/Peach Quarter-Square Triangle in the center of this quilt block. Once all are sewn together they’ll create ONE (1) Nine-Patch.)
- Peach: Cut ONE (1) 2 7/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles. (These triangles are paired with the results of the Orange 2 7/8″ square which will create ONE (1) Quarter-Square Triangle in the center of this quilt block.)
- Yellow: Cut SIX (6) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Gold 2 7/8″ squares which will create TWELVE (12) Half-Square Triangles. FOUR (4) of these Half-Square Triangles are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- Gold: Cut SIX (6) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Yellow 2 7/8″ squares which will create TWELVE (12) Half-Square Triangles. FOUR (4) of these Half-Square Triangles are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- Gold: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles are paired on ONE (1) side with the Yellow/Gold Half-Square Triangles. Then they’re paired on ONE (1) other side with the White 3 3/8″ square.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 3/8″ squares. (These are paired on ONE (1) side with the Gold
3 3/8″ squares. They’re also paired on ONE (1) other side with the Orange 3 3/8″ squares. In addition they’re paired with the results of the Gold 2 7/8″ squares.)

- Lt. Blue: Cut ONE (1) 2 7/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles. (These triangles are paired with the results of the Blue 2 7/8″ square which will create ONE (1) Quarter-Square Triangle in the center of this quilt block.)
- Lt. Green: Cut SIX (6) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Green 2 7/8″ squares which will create TWELVE (12) Half-Square Triangles. FOUR (4) of these Half-Square Triangles are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- Lt. Green: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These are flanked by the results of the Green 2 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese. Then they’re paired with the Green/Lt. Green Half-Square Triangles on TWO (2) sides. They’re also paired with the results of the White 5 1/4″ square.)
- Green: Cut SIX (6) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Lt. Green 2 7/8″ squares which will create TWELVE (12) Half-Square Triangles. FOUR (4) of these Half-Square Triangles are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- Green: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank the results of the Green 5 1/4″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese. They they’re paired on TWO (2) sides with the Green/Lt. Green Half-Square Triangles. They’re also paired on ONE (1) other side with the results of the White 5 1/4″ square.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired on ONE (1) side with the Blue 3 3/8″ squares. They’re also paired on ONE (1) other side with the Lt. Blue 3 3/8″ squares. In addition they’re paired with the Green/Lt. Green Flying Geese.)
