Veto Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Red: Cut ONE (1) 1 7/8″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the results of the Blue 2 1/2″ square which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square.)
- Gold: Cut EIGHT (8) 1 7/8″ x 4 3/4″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Blue 1 7/8″ x 4 3/4″ rectangles.)
- Blue: Cut ONE (1) 2 1/2″ square. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank the Red 1 7/8″ square in the center of this quilt block. Which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square.)
- Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 1 1/2″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These squares are sewn together with the results of the Blue 2 1/2″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners, in the center portion of this quilt block.)
- Blue: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are paired with the results of the White 4 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 2 1/2″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are paired with the Blue
1 1/2″ x 2 3/8″ rectangles.) - White: Cut FOUR (4) 4 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times per square. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are paired with the Blue 4 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt clock.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 1 7/8″ x 4 3/4″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Gold 1 7/8″ x 4 2/4″ rectangles.)
