Annie’s Star Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Pink: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- Pink: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) more Half-Square Triangles. Once they’re sewn together they’ll be the center of this quilt block.
- Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 7/8″ squares which will create an additional EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Pink 3 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Pink 3 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) more Half-Square Triangles. Once they’re sewn together they’ll be the center of this quilt block.
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Pink 3 7/8″ squares which will create an additional EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles.

Sew TWELVE (12) “Annie’s Star Quilt Blocks” to end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished & 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.

- Green: Cut TWO 3 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) more Half-Square Triangles. Once they’re all sewn together they’ll be the center of this quilt block.)
- Green: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank ONE (1) side of the results of the White 7 1/2 square. The results of the White 3 7/8″ squares will flank ONE (1) other side of the results of the White 7 1/4″ square. Once all area sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Green 3 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. Once they’re sewn together they’ll be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)

Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These are flanked on ONE (1) side by the results of the Green 3 7/8″ squares. Then they’re flanked on ONE (1) other side by the results of the White 3 7/8″ squares. Once they’re all sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)
