Spool Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Lt. Blue: Cut ONE (1) 3 7/8″ x 7 1/4″ rectangle. (This is paired with the Gray 3 7/8″ squares which will create TWO (2) Snowball Corners. Then it’s flanked by the results of the White
3 1/4″ squares.) - Gray: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Lt. Blue 3 7/8″ x 7 1/4″ rectangle which will create TWO (2) Snowball Corners.)
- Gray: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the Pink 2 7/8″ squares. They’re also paired with the results of the White 5 7/8″ squares.)
- Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares which will create TWO (2) Four-Patches. Once they’re sewn together they’ll also be the lower left-hand & the upper right-hand corners of this quilt block.)
- Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares. They’re also paired with the results of the Gray 3 1/4″ squares. In addition they’re paired with the results of the White 3 1/4″ squares.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Pink 2 7/8″ squares which will create TWO (2) Four-Patches. They’ll also be the lower left-hand & the upper right-hand corners of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the Lt. Blue 3 7/8″ x 7 1/4″ rectangle. Then they’re paired with the Pink 2 7/8″ squares.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 5 5/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles. (These are paired with the results of the Gray 3 1/4″ squares. Once they’re sewn together they’ll be the upper left-hand & the lower left-hand corners of this quilt block.)
