Countdown to Christmas 12/20/2020: Tree of Life Quilt Block

Tree of Life Quilt Block Free Pattern for a 12" quilt block at QuiltTherapy.com!

Tree of Life Quilt Block




Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Green: Cut TWENTY-FOUR (24) 1 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 1 7/8″ squares, which will create FORTY-EIGHT Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut THREE (3) 1 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 1 7/8″ squares & the results of the Brown 3 7/8″ squares. As needed for this quilt block.)
  • Brown: Cut ONE (1) 2 3/8″ square. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (This is paired with the Brown 3 3/8″ x 5″ rectangle which will create ONE (1) Snowball Corner. It’s also the bottom left-hand corner of this quilt block.)
  • Brown: Cut ONE (1) 3 7/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles. (These will be flanked by the results of the Green 1 7/8″ squares. They’ll also be the upper left-hand & the lower right-hand corner’s of this quilt block.)
  • Brown: Cut ONE (1) 3 3/8″ x 5″ rectangle. (This is paired with the result of the White 8 1/4″ square as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Brown: Cut ONE (1) 9 7/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles. You only need ONE (1) of these triangles for this quilt block. (This is flanked on ONE (1) side by the results of the Green 1 7/8″ squares & on ONE (1) other side by the results of the White 8 1/4″ square. As needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWENTY-FOUR (24) 1 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Green 1 7/8″ squares, which will create FORTY-EIGHT Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut THREE (3) 1 1/2″ squares. (These are flanked by the results of the Green 1 7/8″ squares. ONE (1) of these is also the upper right-hand corner of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 8 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. You only need TWO (2) of these triangles for this quilt block. (These are paired with the Brown 3 3/8″ x 5″ rectangle. They’ll also flank the results of the Brown 9 7/8″ square as needed for this quilt block.)
