Spain’s Star Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

• Red: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the Yellow
  3 7/8″ squares. They’re also paired with the results of the Yellow 7 1/4″ squares. When all are sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles as needed to sew it together.)
• Red: Cut ONE (1) 4 3/4″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block as needed to sew it together.)
• Yellow: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the Red
  3 7/8″ squares. They’re also paired with the results of the Yellow 7 1/4″ squares. When all are sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles as needed to sew it together.)
• Yellow: Cut ONE (1) 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the Red 3 7/8″ squares. They’re also paired with the results of the Yellow 3 7/8″ squares. When all are sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles as needed to sew it together.)
• White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block as needed to sew it together.)
• White: Cut ONE (1) 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are paired with the results of the Yellow
  7 1/2″ square as needed to sew this quilt block together.)

• Yellow: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the results of the Red 4 1/4″ square, which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square, as needed to sew it together.)
• Yellow: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the Red
