Quilted Kitchen: Feathers Quilt Block & Feather-Light Biscuit Recipe

Feathers Quilt Block is a Free Pattern for a 12" quilt block at QuiltTherapy.com!

Feathers Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Navy Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ rectangles. (These are the horizontal & vertical centers of this quilt block.)
  • Lt. Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 3 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Lt. Blue 3 3/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners,)
  • Lt. Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 3 3/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Lt. Blue 3 3/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners.)
  • Lt. Blue: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These triangles are paired with the White
    2 1/2″ squares in the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. They’re paired with the results of the Blue 3 1/4″ squares.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. (These triangles will flank the Lt. Blue 3 3/8″ squares. They’ll also flank the results of the Lt. Blue 3 1/4″ squares.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Lt. Pink: Cut ONE (1) 4 5/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles. (These triangles are paired with the results of the Pink
    4 5/8″ square. Which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square. When all sewn together they’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)
  • Lt. Pink: Cut TWO (2) 4 5/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 5/8″ squares. Which will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners.)
  • Pink: Cut ONE (1) 4 5/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles. (These triangles are paired with the results of the Lt. Pink
    4 5/8″ square. Which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square. When all sewn together they’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)
  • Pink: Cut TWO (2) 4 5/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 5/8″ squares. Which will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners.)
  • Fuchsia: Cut FOUR (4) 3 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the results of the Fuchsia 2 7/8″ squares. They’re also paired with the results of the White 2 7/8″ squares. When all sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Square in a Squares. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Fuchsia: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles are paired with the Fuchsia 3 3/8″ squares. They’re also paired with the results of the White 2 7/8″ squares. When all sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Square in a Squares. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 5/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Pink 4 5/8″ squares. They’re also paired with the Fuchsia 4 5/8″ squares. When all sewn together they’ll create EIGHT (8) Square in a Squares.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles are paired with the Fuchsia 3 3/8″ squares. They’re also paired with the results of the Fuchsia 2 7/8″ squares. When all sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Square in a Squares. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)

Hard Candy Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (precise 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Pink:  Cut ONE (1) 3 3/4″ square.  On the back side of the square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time.
  • Pink:  Cut ONE (1) 6 1/2″ square.
  • Light Yellow:  Cut TWO (2) 3 3/4″ squares.  On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time.
  • Light Yellow:  Cut ONE (1) 3 3/4″ square.
  • Light Yellow:  Cut TWO (2) 3 1/2″ x 9 1/2″ strips.
  • Light Yellow:  Cut TWO (1) 3 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ strips.
