Stuffed Quilt Block is a Free Pattern for a 12" quilt block at QuiltTherapy.com!

Stuffed Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Turquoise: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/8″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s paired with the Pink 3 1/8″ squares.)
  • Turquoise: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ x 7″ rectangles. (These are paired with the White 2 1/2″ x 7″ rectangles.)
  • Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Pink 3 1/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners.)
  • Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/8″ squares. (These are first paired with the Pink 3 1/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners. Then they are paired with the results of the White 5 3/8″ squares. Finally they are paired with the Turquoise 3 1/8″ square. Once they are all sewn together they will create the center of this quilt block.)
  • Pink: Cut TWO (2) 4 3/4″ squares. (These are paired with the White 4 3/4″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They will also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ x 7″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Turquoise 2 1/2″ x 7″ rectangles.
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 4 3/4″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Pink 4 3/4″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They will also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 5 3/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are paired with the Pink 3 3/8″ squares in the center of this quilt block.)

Neighborhood Star Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Blue: Cut TWO (2) 5 3/4″ squares.Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the Green 3″ squares. They are also paired with the results of the White 3 3/4″ squares. Once they are all sewn together they will create the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut TWO (2) 3″ squares. (These are paired with the results of the White 3 3/4″ squares. They are also paired with the results of the Blue 5 3/4″ squares. Once they are all sewn together they will create the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut TWO (2) 3″ squares. (These are paired with the Red 3″ squares.)
  • Green: Cut FOUR (4) 3″ squares. (These are paired with the Red 3″ squares. Once they are sewn together they will create TWO (2) Four-Patches in the center of this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut TWO (2) 3 3/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank ONE (1) side of the results of the White 6 3/8″ square. Once they are sewn together with the results of the Red 3 3/4″ squares they will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)
  • Red: Cut TWO (2) 3″ squares. (These are paired with the results of the White 3 3/4″ squares. They are also paired with the results of the Blue 5 3/4″ squares. Once they are all sewn together they will create the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Red: Cut TWO (2) 3″ squares. (These are paired with the Green 3″ squares.)
  • Red: Cut FOUR (4) 3″ squares. (These are paired with the Green 3″ squares. Once they are sewn together they will create TWO (2) Four-Patches in the center of this quilt block.)
  • Red: Cut TWO (2) 3 3/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank ONE (1) side of the results of the White 6 3/8″ square. Once they are sewn together with the results of the Green 3 3/4″ squares they will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 3 3/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the Green or Red 3″ squares in the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. They are also paired with the results of the Blue 5 3/4″ squares.   • Blue: Cut TWO (2) 3″ squares. (These are paired with the Purple 3″ squares.)
  • Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 3″ squares. (These are paired with the Purple 3″ squares. Once they are sewn together they will create TWO (2) Four-Patches in the center of this quilt block.)
  • Blue: Cut ONE (1) 3 3/4″ square. (These are paired with the Yellow 3 3/4″ square which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. Then they are paired with the results of the White 3 3/4″ squares. They are also paired with the results of the Yellow 5 3/4″ squares. Once they are all sewn together they will create TWO (2) corners of this quilt block.
  • Blue: Cut TWO (2) 3 3/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank ONE (1) side of the results of the White 6 3/8″ square. Once they are sewn together with the results of the Purple 3 3/4″ squares they will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)

  • Lt. Blue: Cut TWELVE (12) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 1/2″ squares. They’re also paired with the Blue/White Half-Square Triangles. In addition they’re paired with the Blue 2 1/2″ squares. Once sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Nine-Patches. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Lt. Blue: Cut THREE (3) 5 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These triangles are flanked by the results of the Blue 3 1/4″ squares which will create TWELVE (12) Flying Geese.)
  • Lt. Blue: Cut ONE (1) 3 3/8″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the results of the Blue 3 1/4″ squares which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square.)
  • Blue: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Lt. Blue 2 1/2″ squares. They’re also paired with the White 2 1/2″ squares. In addition they’re paired with the Blue/White Half-Square Triangles. Once sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Nine-Patches. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Blue: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank the Lt. Sew TWELVE (12) “Shady Pine Star Quilt Blocks” to end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished & 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.

Shady Pine Star Variation Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Lt. Green: Cut TWELVE (12) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 1/2″ squares. They’re also paired with the Lt. Green/White Half-Square Triangles. In addition they’re paired with the Green 2 1/2″ squares. Once sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Nine-Patches. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Lt. Green: Cut TWELVE (12) 3 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank the results of the Lt. Blue 5 3/8″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Flying Geese.)
  • Lt. Green: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank the results of the Green 5 3/8″ squares which will create TWELVE (12) Flying Geese.)
  • Green: Cut TWELVE (12) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 1/2″ squares. They’re also paired with the Lt. Green/White Half-Square Triangles. Once sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Nine-Patches. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank the Lt. Blue 3 3/8″ square that’s in the center of this quilt block. Once sewn together they’ll create ONE (1) Square in a Square.)
  • Green: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/4″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 1/4″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles. Then they’re paired with the Lt. Green 2 1/2″ squares. They’re also paired with the Green 2 1/2″ squares. In addition they’re paired with the White 2 1/2″ squares. Once they’re all sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Nine-Patches. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/8″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the results of the Lt. Green 3 1/4″ squares which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square.)
  • Green: Cut THREE (3) 5 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These triangles are flanked by the results of the Lt. Green 3 1/4″ squares. Which will create TWELVE (12) Flying Geese.)
  • White: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Lt. Green 2 1/2″ squares. They’re also paired with the Green 2 1/2″ squares. In addition they’re paired with the Lt. Green/White Half-Square Triangles. Once sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Nine-Patches. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/4″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Lt. Green 3 1/4″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles. They’re paired with the Lt. Green
    2 1/2″ squares. They’re also paired with the Green 2 1/2″ squares. In addition they’re paired with the White 2 1/2″ squares. Once sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Nine-Patches. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/4″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Green 3 1/4″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles. They’re paired with the Lt. Green/White Half-Square Triangles. They’re also paired with the Lt. Green 2 1/2″ squares. In addition they’re paired with the Green 2 1/2″ squares. Plus they’re paired with the White 2 1/2″ squares. Once sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Nine-Patches. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
