Shady Pine Star Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Lt. Blue: Cut TWELVE (12) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 1/2″ squares. They’re also paired with the Blue/White Half-Square Triangles. In addition they’re paired with the Blue 2 1/2″ squares. Once sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Nine-Patches. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- Lt. Blue: Cut THREE (3) 5 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These triangles are flanked by the results of the Blue 3 1/4″ squares which will create TWELVE (12) Flying Geese.)
- Lt. Blue: Cut ONE (1) 3 3/8″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the results of the Blue 3 1/4″ squares which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square.)
- Blue: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Lt. Blue 2 1/2″ squares. They’re also paired with the White 2 1/2″ squares. In addition they’re paired with the Blue/White Half-Square Triangles. Once sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Nine-Patches. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- Blue: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank the Lt. Blue 3 3/8″ square that’s in the center of this quilt block. Once sewn together they’ll create ONE (1) Square in a Square.)
- Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/4″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 1/4″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles. (These are paired with the Lt. Blue 2 1/2″ squares. They’re also paired with the White 2 1/2″ squares. In addition they’re paired with the Blue 2 1/2″ squares. Once sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Nine-Patches. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
