Quilted Kitchen: Farmer’s Market Quilt Block & Farmer’s Market Green Pasta Recipe

Farmer's Market Quilt Block is a Free Pattern for a 12" quilt block at QuiltTherapy.com!

Farmer’s Market Quilt Block




Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Gold: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired with the results of the Green
    4 1/4″ square. Then they’ll flank the White 4 3/4″ square, which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Gold: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Green 3 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired with the results of the Gold
    4 1/4″ square. Then they’ll flank the White 4 3/4″ square, which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Gold 3 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Green 3 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Red: Cut THIRTY (30) 1 1/4″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These will be paired, with each of the White rectangle cuts (below), to create Snowball Corners).
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 2 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s paired with FOUR (4) of the 1 1/4″ squares which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 6 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 1 1/4″ x 4″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Red 1 1/4″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners. They’ll also be paired with the Square in a Square in the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 1 1/4″ x 5″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Red 1 1/4″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Snowball corners. They’ll also be paired with the FOUR (4) prior rectangles.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 1 1/4″ x 6 7/8″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Red 1 1/4″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners. They’ll also be paired with the FOUR (4) prior rectangles.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 1 1/4″ x 8 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Red 1 1/4″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners. They’ll also be paired with the FOUR (4) prior White rectangles.)

  • Salmon: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 3/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the White 3 1/2″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Snowball Corners. FOUR (4) of these Snowball Corner portions of this quilt block will help create the center of this quilt block. The rest of the FOUR (4) Snowball Corner portions of this quilt block will be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Salmon: Cut EIGHT (8) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 3/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Snowball Corners, as needed for this quilt block.)
