Quilted Kitchen: Greek Square Quilt Block & Greek Spinach Pie Recipe

Greek Square Quilt Block Free Pattern for a 12" quilt block at QuiltTherapy.com!Greek Square Quilt Block




Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Yellow: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 4 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
  • Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired with the White 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Blue: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. On the back side of each square, draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Yellow 4 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ strips. (These are paired with the Blue 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles as needed for this quilt block.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Coral: Cut ONE (1) 1 7/8″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block.)
  • Coral: Cut FOUR (4) 4 1/2″ squares. (These will flank the left & right sides of the White 1 7/8″ x 5 7/8″ strips. As needed for this quilt block.)
  • Coral: Cut TWELVE (12) 2 1/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 1/8″ squares, which will create TWENTY-FOUR (24) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 1 7/8″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 1 7/8″ x 5 7/8″ strips. (These will be flanked by the Coral 4 1/2″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWELVE (12) 2 1/8″ squares. On the back side of each square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Coral 2 1/8″ squares, which will create TWENTY-FOUR (24) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)

(These are paired with the results of the Yellow 5 1/4″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Aqua: Cut TWELVE (12) 2 1/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 1/8″ squares, which will create TWENTY-FOUR (24) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 1 7/8″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 1 7/8″ x 5 7/8″ strips. (These are the horizontal & vertical center’s of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWELVE (12) 2 1/8″ squares. On the back side of each square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the White 2 1/8″ squares, which will create TWENTY-FOUR (24) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Red: Cut FIVE (5) 3 1/2″ squares. (ONE (1) of these is the center of this quilt block. The remaining FOUR (4) of these are the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
  • Red: Cut ONE (1) 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are flanked by the results of the White
    2 3/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Dark Red: Cut SIX (6) 2 3/8″ squares. On the back side of each square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the White 2 3/8″ squares, which will create TWELVE (12) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut SIX (6) 2 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Dark Red 2 3/8″ squares, which will create TWELVE (12) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Red 7 1/4″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ x 3 1/2″ strips. (These will flank the center Red 3 1/2″ square as needed for this quilt block.)

  • Dark Green: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. You only need two of these triangles to make this quilt block. (These are paired with the results of the Green 4 1/4″ square which will create ONE (1) Quarter-Square triangle. It’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)
  • Dark Green: Cut ONE (1) 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are flanked by the results of the White 2 3//8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Dark Green 3 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
