“Harry and Alice” Block #2 Revealed!

I sure hope you’re following along and making my “Harry Loves Alice” 2019 block of the month (BOM) quilt from my sister site, BOMquilts.com!

It’s a great lesson in half-square triangles (HST’s) ! Whether you’re a beginning quilter, wanting to learn how to get more experience in piecing HST’s, this quilt is the perfect way to brush up on your skills. If you’re a more advanced quilter, there’s nothing easier than HST’s to whip up quickly and painlessly, so this quilt will go together rather quickly for you!

Block #2 – Girl’s Favorite

This is one of *my* favorite quilt blocks to make, too! 🙂 Especially with all of the different fabrics that come in the “Harry Loves Alice” fat quarter bundle from Abbi May’s Quilt Shop. Just look at the way the stars & flowers and blues & navy play off of each other! With that punch from the creamy, dreamy stars fabric thrown in to break up the tonals of the combination of fabrics. Makes my quilty heart just sing for joy!!!

It’s not to late to get started on your own “Harry Loves Alice” BOM quilt! Introducing “Harry Loves Alice”

When I first laid my eyes on this eye candy fabric, the first thing that came to my mind was the movie Harry Loves Sally. Then when I got my hot little quilter’s fingers on the fabric, my design just materialized from out of nowhere. Well it came from somewhere, but I let the fabric do the talking for me and the quilt image shown above is what I came up with.

Abbi May’s Fabric Shop has been sponsoring my BOM quilts, and many other quilts that I design, since 2006. Please show Linda some love by purchasing the “Harry Loves Alice” quilt kit from her.

This is the new (and did I mention free?) 2019 block of the month (BOM) quilt for my sister-site, BOMquilts.com. The fabrics are bold and bright, fun and festive and even a little bit romantic, too! It’s an 11-part BOM quilt with one block pattern instruction revealed on the 20th of each month. If you follow along each month, you will have a quilt finished by Christmas next year! Woo Hoo!

The fabric requirements will be posted on January 20, 2019. There are nine blocks that compromise the quilt top, then the finishing instructions. Goodness, I don’t need to type all of this out! Cutting Requirements for 12â€³ finished block (precise 1/4â€³ seam allowance):

Yellow: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square.
Yellow: Cut FOUR (4) 3 3/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square.
White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares.
White: Cut TWO (2) 2″ x 3 1/2″ strips.
White: Cut TWO (2) 2″ x 6 1/2″ strips.
White: Cut ONE (1) 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square.
