Quilted Kitchen: Goose Creek Quilt Block & Gooseberry Soup Recipe

Goose Creek Quilt Block is a Free Pattern for a 12" quilt block at QuiltTherapy.com!

Goose Creek Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Lt. Blue: Cut TWO (2) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Green 2 1/2″ squares. They’re also paired with the White 2 1/2″ squares. When all sewn together they’ll create TWO (2) Nine-Patches. They’ll also be the upper left-hand & lower right-hand corners of this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Lt. Blue 2 1/2″ squares. They’re also paired with the White 2 1/2″ squares. When all sewn together they’ll create TWO (2) Nine-Patches. They’ll also be the upper left-hand & lower right-hand corners of this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles will flank the White 4 3/4″ squares which will create TWO (2) Square in a Squares. They’ll also be the upper right-hand & lower left-hand corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Lt. Blue 2 1/2″ squares. They’re also paired with the Green 2 1/2″ squares. When all sewn together they’ll create TWO (2) Nine-Patches. They’ll also be the upper left-hand & lower right-hand corners of this )
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 4 3/4″ squares. (These are flanked by the results of the Green 3 7/8″ squares which will create TWO (2) Square in a Squares. They’ll also be the upper right-hand & lower left-hand corners of this quilt block.)

Butterfly Quilt Block is a Free Pattern for a 12" quilt block at QuiltTherapy.com!

Butterfly Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Lt. Blue: Cut ONE (1) 3 7/8″ square. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (This is paired with the Blue 3 7/8″ square which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also create the center of this quilt block as needed to sew it together.)
  • Lt. Blue: Cut ONE (1) 6 7/8″ square. (This is paired with the White 3 7/8″ square which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. This quilt block only needs ONE (1) of these Half-Square Triangles when it’s sewn together. It’ll also be the upper right-hand corner of this quilt block.)
  • Blue: Cut ONE (1) 3 7/8″ square. (This is paired with the Lt. Blue 3 7/8″ square which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also create the center of this quilt block as needed to sew it together.)
  • Blue: Cut ONE (1) 6 7/8″ square. (This is paired with the White 3 7/8″ square which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. This quilt block only needs ONE (1) of these Half-Square Triangles when it’s sewn together. It’ll also be the lower left-hand corner of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 6 7/8″ square. (This is paired with the Lt. Blue 3 7/8″ square which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. This quilt block only needs ONE (1) of these Half-Square Triangles when it’s sewn together. It’ll also be the upper right-hand corner of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 6 7/8″ square. (This is paired with the Blue 3 7/8″ square which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. This quilt block only needs ONE (1) of these Half-Square Triangles when it’s sewn together. It’ll also be the lower left-hand corner of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Lt. Blue/Blue Half-Square Triangles as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ rectangles. (These are the upper left-hand & the lower right-hand corners of this quilt block.)

Snail’s Trail Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Peach: Cut TWO (2) 2 5/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 5/8″ squares which will create ONE (1) Four-Patch. When all sewn together they’ll create the center of this quilt block.)
  • Peach: Cut ONE (1) 3 7/8″ square. (This is paired with the White 3 7/8″ square, which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Peach: Cut ONE (1) 3 7/8″ square. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank the Four-Patch in the center of this quilt block. Together with the results of the White 3 7/8″ square, they’ll create ONE (1) Square in a Square, as needed to sew it together.)
  • Peach: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Peach/White Half-Square Triangles. They’re also the lower left-hand & the upper right-hand corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 2 5/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Peach 2 5/8″ squares which will create ONE (1) Four-Patch. When all sewn together they’ll create the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 3 7/8″ square. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (This is paired with the Peach 3 7/8″ square, which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 3 7/8″ square. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank the Four-Patch in the center of this quilt block. Together with the results of the Peach 3 7/8″ square, they’ll create ONE (1) Square in a Square, as needed to sew it together.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ rectangle. (This is the upper left-hand corner of this quilt block as needed to sew it together.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ x 9 1/2″ rectangle. (This is the lower right-hand corner of this quilt block as needed to sew it together.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Navy Blue: Cut ONE (1) 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are flanked by the results of the Gold
    3 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese. They’ll also be the center of this quilt block as needed when it’s sewn together.)
  • Gold: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank the results of the Navy Blue 7 1/4″ square which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese. They’ll also be the center of this quilt block as needed when it’s sewn together.)
