Wyoming Star Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Navy Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. (These will flank the results of the White
5 1/4″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.) - Navy Blue: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are flanked by the results of the White 2 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)
- Sky Blue: Cut SIX (6) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares, which will create TWELVE (12) Half-Square Triangles.)
- Sky Blue: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the White 3 3/8″ square which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square. They will also help create the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 3 3/8″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It is flanked by the results of the Sky Blue 2 7/8″ squares which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square.)
- White: Cut SIX (6) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back sides, draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Sky Blue 2 7/8″ squares, which will create TWELVE (12) Half-Square Triangles.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Navy Blue 5 1/4″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are flanked by the results of the Navy Blue 2 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)

If you make TWELVE (12) Wyoming Star Quilt Blocks, you will end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished, 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.
Wyoming Star Variation Quilt Block

- Red: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the White 3 3/8″ square which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square. They will also help create the center of this quilt block.)
- Red: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will be flanked by the results of the Pink 2 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)
- Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles.)
- Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Red 5 1/4″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 3 3/8″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the results of the Pink 2 7/8″ squares which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side, draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Pink 2 7/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Flying Geese.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are flanked by the results of the Red 2 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)
