New Hourglass Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Salmon: Cut EIGHTEEN (18) 2″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWELVE (12) 2″ squares. (These are paired with the Salmon 2″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut THREE (3) 3 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These will flank the Salmon 2″ squares. They will also be the top & bottom of this quilt block.
- White: Cut ONE (1) 13 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles. You only need TWO (2) of these triangles for this quilt block. (These will be the left & the right sides of this quilt block.)

If you make TWELVE (12) “New Hourglass Quilt Blocks,†you will end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished, 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.
