Army Star Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Red: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
- Blue: Cut EIGHT (8) 2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangles. (These will flank on TWO (2) sides the results of the White 4 1/2″ square & on the other TWO (2) sides the White 3 1/2″ squares, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Navy Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 4 1/4″ square which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ squares. (These will flank the results of the Navy Blue 2 3/8″ squares & will help create the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FIVE (5) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are flanked by the Blue 2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangles as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. On the back side of each square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Red 3 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are flanked by the results of the Navy Blue 2 3/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)

The Flying Geese should be trimmed to 1 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ finished & 2″ x 4″ unfinished.
The Half-Square Triangles should be trimmed to 3″ finished & 3 1/2″ unfinished.

- Navy Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. - White: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square. (This is flanked by the results of the Navy Blue 2 3/8″ squares. It’s also the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Blue 2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangles as needed for this quilt block.)
