On Cloud Nine: Jewel Box Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Purple: Cut EIGHT (8) 2″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangles as needed for this quilt block.)
- Purple: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired with the White 2″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
- Purple: Cut ONE (1) 4 3/4″ square. (This are flanked by the results of the White 3 7/8″ squares. Which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square. It’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)
- Purple: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWELVE (12) 2″ squares. (These are paired with the Purple 2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangles as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Purple 2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangles as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the Purple 4 3/4″ square. Which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square. They’ll also help create center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Purple 3 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)

If you make TWELVE (12) “Jewel Box Quilt Blocks,” you’ll end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished, 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.
