On Cloud Nine: Pinwheel Four Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Red: Cut FOUR (4) 1 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Light Pink 1 1/2″ squares & the Pink 1 1/2″ squares. Which will create FOUR (4) Nine-Patch squares as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Light Pink: Cut SIXTEEN (16) 1 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Pink 1 1/2″ squares & the Red 1 1/2″ squares. Which will create FOUR (4) Nine-Patch squares as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Pink: Cut SIXTEEN (16) 1 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Light Pink 1 1/2″ squares & the Red 1 1/2″ squares. Which will create FOUR (4) Nine-Patch squares as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are flanked by the FOUR (4) Nine-Patch squares on ONE (1) side & FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles on ONE (1) other side. As needed for this quilt block)
  • Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 7/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block. FOUR (4) of these Half-Square Triangles will be used to create the Pinwheel in the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the White 3 7/8″ squares to create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles needed for this quilt block. FOUR (4) of these Half-Square Triangles will be used to create the Pinwheel in the center of this quilt block.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Salmon: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are flanked on ONE (1) side by the White 2 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ strips & on ONE (1) other side by the results of the White 2 7/8″ squares. As needed
  • Salmon: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block)
  • Salmon: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/2″ squares. (These are the main parts of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut SIX (6) 2 1/2″ squares. (TWO (2) of these are the upper left-hand & lower right-hand corner’s of this quilt block. TWO (2) others are flanked by the results of the White 2 7/8″ squares. The final TWO (2) are flanked by the results of the Salmon 2 7/8″ squares. All are needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/4″ squares. On the back side of each square, draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Salmon 2 7/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ strips. (These are paired on ONE (1) side with the White
    2 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ strips & on the other side by the White 2 1/2″ squares. As needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 2 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ strips. (These are paired with the White 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ strips. They’ll also be the upper right-hand & lower left-hand corner’s of this quilt block.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Peach: Cut TWO (2) 6 7/8″ squares. On the back side of each square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the TWO (2) Peach 3 3/8″ x 9″ rectangles & the White 3 3/8″ x 9″ rectangles. They’ll create TWO (2) Snowball Corners. And they’ll be the upper left-hand & the lower right-hand corner’s of this quilt block.)
  • Peach: Cut TWO (2) 3 3/8″ x 9″ rectangles. (These are paired with the White 3 3/8″ x 9″ rectangle & will create the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 6 7/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles. (These will flank the Peach 3 3/8″ x 9″ rectangles. They’ll also be the upper right-hand & the lower left-hand corner’s of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 3 3/8″ x 9″ rectangle. (This is paired with the Peach 3 3/8″ x 9″ rectangles & will help create the center of this quilt block.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Dark Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are flanked by the results of the Light Pink
    2 7/8″ squares which will help create the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
  • Dark Pink: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block.)
  • Light Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also help create the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
  • Light Pink: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired with the results of the White 5 1/4″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)

  • Purple: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also help create the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
  • Purple: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the Lilac 3 3/8″ square, which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square, as needed for this quilt block.)
