Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (precise 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Blue: Cut EIGHT (8) 1 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the White 1 1/2″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Four-Patch squares. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″, which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Blue: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are flanked by the results of the White
    2 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Blue: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will flank the White 4 1/2″ square, which will create a Square in a Square, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut EIGHT (8) 1 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Blue 1 1/2″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Four-Patch squares. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of each square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Blue 2 7/8″, which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of each square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These will flank the results of the Blue 5 1/4″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the results of the Blue 5 1/4″ square which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Pink: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block.)
  • Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Blue: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired with the White 5 1/4″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the results of the Pink 2 7/8″ squares. They’ll also help create the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of each square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Pink 2 7/8″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired with the Blue 5 1/4″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)

  • White: Cut TEN (10) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the results of the Aqua 5 1/4″ squares. They’ll also help create the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FIVE (5) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of each square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Aqua 2 7/8″ squares which will create TEN (10) Half-Square Triangles. FOUR (4) of these Half-Square Triangles will be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. TWO (2) of these Half-Square Triangles will help create the center of this quilt block.)

  • Green: Cut SIX (6) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with each other in the upper left-hand corner of this quilt block. They’re also paired with each other & in addition paired with a White 2 1/2″ square, which will create ONE (1) Four-Patch, in the lower right-hand corner of this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 2 1/2″ square. (ONE (1) of these is paired with the Green 2 1/2″ squares, which will create ONE (1) Four-Patch. It’s also the lower right-hand corner of this quilt block. The other ONE (1) is paired with the results of the Green 2 7/8″ squares & is the upper left-hand corner of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of each square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Green 2 7/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Blue: Cut ONE (1) 3 7/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles. You only need ONE (1) of these triangles for this quilt block. (This is paired with the results of the Blue 3 1/2″ square & is also paired with the results of the White 3 1/2″ square. Which will make ONE (1) Split Half-Square Triangle as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Blue: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles. You only need ONE (1) of these triangles for this quilt block. (This is paired with the results of the Blue 3 7/8″ square & is also paired with the results of the White 3 1/2″ square. Which will make ONE (1) Split Half-Square Triangle as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Blue: Cut ONE (1) 8″ x 9″ rectangle. (This is the “cup” of the quilt block. It’s paired with the results of the Blue 2 1/2″ squares, which will create TWO (2) Snowball corners, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Blue: Cut ONE (1) 2 1/2″ x 12 1/2″ rectangle. (This is the “saucer” of this quilt block. It’s paired with the results of the White 2 7/8″ squares, which will create TWO (2) Snowball Corners, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 2″ x 12 1/2″ rectangle. (This is the very top of this quilt block. It’s also the upper left-hand & upper right-hand corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 2″ x 9″ rectangle. (This is paired with the Blue 8″ x 9″ rectangle as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ x 6″ rectangle. (This is paired with the results of the Blue 2 7/8″ square & is also paired with the far right-hand corner of the Blue 2 1/2″ x 12 1/2″ rectangle. As needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. On the back side of each square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Blue 2 1/2″ x 12 1/2″ rectangle & they’re also paired with the Blue 8″ x 9″ rectangle. They’ll create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles. You only need ONE (1) of these triangles for this quilt block. (This is paired with the results of the Blue 3 7/8″ square & is also paired with the results of the Blue 3 1/2″ square.
