TBT: Flag Quilts

Quilt Therapy Posted on September 3, 2015 by TK HarrisonAugust 31, 2015

VetBlock

I made two separate quilts based on the bones of this block above.  One was for a dear friend’s son upon his high school graduation:

And this one to give to the Commander of our county’s American Legion, in thanks for his service both in the military as well as manning the doors at the Legion:

Those ‘bones’ are solid.  Perfect to use over and over again, in different variations and different quilts.  And flags are great for anyone, but especially for men.  Quilts and quilt fabric for men are becoming more and more popular so I see myself making more flag quilts in my future!

TBT: Dandy Doodle BOM from Planet Patchwork

Quilt Therapy Posted on August 27, 2015 by TK HarrisonAugust 24, 2015

Since the Planet Patchwork web store is no longer in business, I cannot show a link to this quilt that I made for my nephew when he graduated from high school.  I can tell you, however, that it took me a couple of years to finally get it quilted and bound and sent to him!  It was a very simple block of the month quilt that helped me work on perfecting things like half-square triangles and such.  But it is a joy to look at, if I do say so myself!*

*Don’t worry about the lines – I took this photo while the quilt was held against a wooden fence.

Quilt Therapy Posted on August 13, 2015 by TK HarrisonAugust 10, 2015

Do you quilt, make quilt tops, donate fabric, etc. for various charities?  If so, please leave a comment as to what charity/charities you support in this manner.  Free publicity for those who respond for me to interview!

Monday Funday: A New Quilt in the Works!

Quilt Therapy Posted on August 9, 2015 by TK HarrisonAugust 9, 2015

Starting a new quilt is exciting.  If you are a true quilter, there is a LOT of planning involved in a new quilt project.  What fabrics?  What batting?  What quilting?

Then there are the necessary things we must go through, using our five senses.  We touch, we smell, we hear the fabric talk to us, we see the fabric in various places for the quilt and we even talk to our fabrics.  LOL

I have a new quilt planned and I am itching to get it started!  Here are the chosen fabrics:

hmmm, whatever will it be?  Whoever will it go to?  Stay tuned, I’ll let you know at a later date!
