Lattice Star Quilt Block Free Pattern for a 12" quilt block at QuiltTherapy.com!

Lattice Star Quilt Block




Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Blue: Cut SIX (6) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares which will create TWELVE (12) Half-Square Triangles. FOUR (4) of these Half-Square Triangles will create the center of this quilt block.)
  • Blue: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired on TWO (2) sides, with the results of the Blue 2 7/8″ squares, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. (These will flank the results of the White 5 1/4″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Blue: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will be paired with the results of the White 2 7/8″ squares on ONE (1) side & on ONE (1) other side they’ll be paired with the results of the White 4 7/8″ squares. As needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut SIX (6) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Blue 2 7/8″ squares which will create TWELVE (12) Half-Square Triangles. FOUR (4) of these Half-Square Triangles will create the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with on ONE (1) side the results of the Blue 5 1/4″ square & one ONE (1) other side they’re paired with the results of the White 2 7/8″ squares. As needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are flanked by the results of the Blue
    2 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Purple: Cut TWO (2) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 1/2″ squares which will create ONE (1) Four-Patch. They’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)
  • Purple: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Purple: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the Purple 2 7/8″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Purple: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 5 1/4″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Purple: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired on ONE (1) side with the results of the White 2 7/8″ squares & on ONE (1) other side they’re paired with the results of the White 4 7/8″ squares. As needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Purple 2 1/2″ squares which will create ONE (1) Four-Patch. They’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Purple 2 7/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with on ONE (1) side by the results of the White 2 7/8″ squares & on ONE (1) other side they’re paired with the results of the White 4 7/8″ squares. As needed for this quilt block.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Lt. Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 2 5/8″ squares. (These are flanked by the results of the White
    2 3/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Square in a Squares, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Lt. Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. (These will flank on TWO (2) sides, the results of the White 2 3/8″ squares, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Salmon: Cut ONE (1) 2 5/8″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the White 2 5/8″ squares, which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Salmon: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ squares. (These will be flanked on all FOUR (4) sides by the results of the White 2 3/8″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Salmon: Cut TWO (2) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank ONE (1) side of each of the White 2 5/8″ squares as needed for the center of this quilt block.)
  • Salmon: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will flank on TWO (2) sides of the White 2 5/8″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ squares. (These will be flanked on TWO (2) sides by the results of the White 2 1/2″ squares. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the Pink 2 5/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Square in a Squares, as needed for this quilt block.)

  • Lt. Gray: Cut TWO (2) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank ONE (1) side of the Lt. Gray 2 5/8″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Lt. Gray: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will flank on TWO (2) sides the White 2 5/8″ squares as needed for the center of this quilt block.)

  • Yellow: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles. (These are flanked on TWO (2) ends by the Brown 2 1/2″ squares, which will create a “frame” around the Brown 4 1/2″ square, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Brown: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These will flank on TWO (2) ends the Yellow 2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles, which will create a “frame” around the Brown 4 1/2″ square, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Brown: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square. (This will be flanked, on all FOUR (4) sides, by the Yellow  2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles. It’s also be the center of this quilt block.)
  • Brown: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 5 1/4″ squares, which will create the FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Brown 2 1/2″ squares on ONE (1) side & the White 2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles on ONE (1) other side. As needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles. (These are the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are flanked by the results of the Brown 2 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Gray: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block.)

  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Green 2 1/2″ squares & the White 2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles. They’ll also help create the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles. (These will be used as the FOUR (4) corners as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are flanked by the results of the Gray
    2 7/8″ squares. which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are flanked by the results of the Green
    2 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
