Starburst Star Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Purple: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangles. (These will flank on all FOUR (4) sides, the Blue 3 1/2″ square, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Blue: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’ll be flanked by the Purple 2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangles & by the results of the Lt. Blue 2 3/8″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
- Blue: Cut SIX (6) 2 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Lt. Blue 2 3/8″ squares, which will create TWELVE (12) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Blue: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 7 1/4″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Lt. Blue: Cut SIX (6) 2 3/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Blue 2 3/8″ squares, which will create TWELVE (12) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will be flanked by the results of the Blue
2 3/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)

- Red: Cut ONE (1) 2 5/8″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the results of the Lt. Pink 2 3/8″ squares, which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Red: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangles. (These will flank the results of the Light Pink 2 3/8″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
- Pink: Cut SIX (6) 2 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Lt. Pink 2 3/8″ squares, which will create TWELVE (12) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Pink: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 7 1/4″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
