Star Power: Fox Star Quilt Block & Fox Star Variation Quilt Block

Fox Star Quilt Block is a Free Pattern for a 12" quilt block at QuiltTherapy.com!

Fox Star Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Tan: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/4″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Gold 2 3/4″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles.)
  • Tan: Cut TWO (2) 2 3/4″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Gold 2 3/4″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. Once they are sewn together they will be the center of this quilt block.)
  • Gold: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/4″ squares. (These are paired with the Tan 2 3/4″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles.)
  • Gold: Cut TWO (2) 2 3/4″ squares. (These are paired with the Tan 2 3/4″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. Once they are sewn together they will be the center of this quilt block.)
  • Lt. Blue: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 3/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the Lt. Blue 3″ squares. They are also paired with the results of the White 8 3/8″ square.)
  • Lt. Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 3″ squares. (These are paired with the results of the 2 3/4″ squares.)
  • Aqua: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 3/4″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Aqua 2″ x 3″ rectangles which will create EIGHT (8) Snowball Corners.)
  • Aqua: Cut EIGHT (8) 2″ x 3″ rectangles. (These are paired with the results of the Aqua
    2 3/4″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Snowball Corners.)
  • Jade: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 3/4″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Jade 2″ x 3″ rectangles which will create EIGHT (8) Snowball Corners.)
  • Jade: Cut EIGHT (8) 2″ x 3″ rectangles. (These are paired with the results of the Jade
    2 3/4″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Snowball Corners.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 4″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 8 3/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are paired with all of the results of the Lt. Blue 2 3/4″ squares. They are also paired with all of the Aqua & Jade Snowball Corners.)

Box Star Quilt Block is a Free Pattern for a 12" quilt block at QuiltTherapy.com!
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Purple: Cut TWO (2) 3/4″ squares. (These are paired with the Violet 2 3/4″ squares which will create the FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles at the center of this quilt block.)
  • Purple: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank ONE (1) side of the results of the White 4 3/8″ square. Once they are sewn together with the results of the Violet 2 3/4″ squares they will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)
  • Purple: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ x 4″ rectangles. (These should be self explanatory. If not they are aired with the Violet 2″ x 4″ rectangles.)
  • Violet: Cut TWO (2) 2 3/4″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Pink 2 3/4″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. Once they are all sewn together they will create the Pinwheel in the center of this quilt block.)
  • Violet: Cut TWO (2) 2 3/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank ONE (1) side of the results of the White 4 3/8″ square. Once they are sewn together with the results of the Purple 2 3/4″ squares they will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)
  • Violet: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ x 4″ rectangles. (These should be self explanatory. If not they are paired with the Purple 2″ x 4″ rectangles.)
  • Turquoise: Cut TWO (2) 2″ x 4″ rectangles. (These are paired on the right & left sides of the White 5″ squares.)
  • Turquoise: Cut TWO (2) 2″ x 6″ rectangles. (These are the upper left-hand & the lower right-hand corners of this quilt block.)
  • Aqua: Cut TWO (2) 2″ x 4″ rectangles. (These are paired on the left & right sides of the White 5″ squares.)
  • Aqua: Cut TWO (2) 2″ x 6″ rectangles. (These are the upper right-hand & the lower left-hand corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 4 3/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are flanked by the results of the Violet 2 3/4″ squares. They are also flanked by the results of the Purple 2 3/4″ squares. When all sewn together they will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 5″ squares. (These are paired with all of the 2″ x 5″ rectangles. They are also paired with all of the 2″ x 6″ rectangles.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Yellow: Cut TWO (2) 3″ squares. (These make up the center of this quilt block. They are flanked on TWO (2) sides by the results the Aqua 4 3/8″ square. They are flanked on TWO (2) other sides by the results of the Aqua 3 3/4″ squares.)
  • Yellow: Cut FOUR (4) 3 3/4″ squares. (These are paired with the results of the White
    6 3/8″ squares.)
  • Aqua: Cut ONE (1) 4 3/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles will flank TWO (2) sides of the Yellow 3″ squares & will help create the center of this quilt block.)
  • Aqua: Cut ONE (1) 4 3/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles will flank the results of the Jade 3 3/4″ squares which will create TWO (2) Flying Geese.)
  • Aqua: Cut TWO (2) 3 3/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles are flanked by the results of the Jade 4 3/8″ square which will create TWO (2) Flying Geese.)
  • Aqua: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ x 3 3/8″ rectangles. (These are paired on ONE (1) side with the Aqua/Jade Flying Geese. They are also paired on ONE (1) other side with the Jade/Aqua Flying Geese.)
  • Jade: Cut ONE (1) 4 3/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are paired with TWO (2) sides of the White 3″ squares. Which will help create the upper left-hand & the lower right-hand corners of this quilt block.)
  • Jade: Cut ONE (1) 4 3/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles will flank the results of the Teal 3 3/4″ squares which will create TWO (2) Flying Geese.)
  • Jade: Cut TWO (2) 3 3/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles are flanked by the results of the Aqua 4 3/8″ square which will create TWO (2) Flying Geese.)
