On Cloud Nine: Circle Four Quilt Block

Circle Four Quilt Block




Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Gray: Cut FIVE (5) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with each other & will help create the center of this quilt block.)
  • Gray: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)
  • Blue: Cut EIGHT (8) 1 1/2″ squares. (These are flanked on ONE (1) side by the Blue 1 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangles & on ONE (1) other side by the results of the Blue 1 7/8″ squares. As needed for this quilt block.)
  • Blue: Cut EIGHT (8) 1 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangles. (These are flanked by the Blue 1 1/2″ squares on ONE (1) side & on ONE (1) other side by the results of the the Blue 1 7/8″ squares As needed for this quilt block.)
  • Blue: Cut EIGHT (8) 1 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the Blue 1 1/2″ square on ONE (1) side & the results of the White 3 1/4″ square on ONE (1) other side. As needed for this quilt block.)
  • Blue: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will be flanked by the results of the White
    2 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as is needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side the square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Gray 2 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Blue 5 1/4″ squares to create the FOUR (4) Flying Geese as is needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the Blue 1 1/2″ x
    2 1/2″ rectangles on both sides as is needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles. (These will be flanked by the results of the Blue
    1 7/8″ squares as is needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Bright Pink: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. On the back side the square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These will flank both ends of the White 6 1/8″ x 11 7/8″ rectangle, which will create TWO (2) Snowball Corners. They’ll also be the upper right-hand & the lower left-hand corner’s of this quilt block.)
  • Light Pink: Cut ONE (1) 8 7/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles. (These will flank both sides of the White 6 1/8″ x 11 7/8″ rectangle. They’ll also be the upper left-hand & the lower right-hand corner’s of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 6 1/8″ x 11 7/8″ rectangle. (This is flanked on each end by the results of the Bright Pink 4 7/8″ square which will create ONE (1) Snowball Corner. As well as on each side by the results of the Light Pink 8 7/8″ square. It’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Dark Green: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side the square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These will flank the ends of either the Green 3 3/8″ x 6 1/8″ rectangles or the Green 3 3/8″ x 14 5/8″ rectangle. Which will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut TWO (2) 3 3/8″ x 6 1/8″ rectangles. (These will be flanked by the results of the Dark Green 2 7/8″ squares on each end, which will create TWO (2) Snowball Corners, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut ONE (1) 3 3/8″ x 14 5/8″ rectangle. (This will be flanked by the results of the Dark Green 2 7/8″ squares on both ends, which will create TWO (2) Snowball Corners, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 4 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank on both sides either the Dark Green 3 3/8″ x 6 1/8″ rectangles or the Dark Green 3 3/8″ x 14 5/8″ rectangle. As needed for this quilt block.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Purple: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These will be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
  • Purple: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Dark Purple 3″ squares, as well as the results of the White 2 7/8″ squares. They’ll also create a Square in a Square as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Dark Purple: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the White 4 1/2″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Dark Purple: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 5 1/4″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/2″ squares. On the back side the square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Dark Purple 4 1/2″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will be flanked by the results of the Dark Purple 2 7/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)

  • Maroon: Cut FOUR (4) 3 3/8″ squares. (These will be flanked by the results of the White
    2 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Maroon: Cut ONE (1) 3 3/8″ square. (This will be the center portion of this quilt block.)
  • Maroon: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the White 2 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the Maroon 2 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. On the back side of the square, draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These will flank the FOUR (4) Maroon 3 3/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 4 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will be flanked by the results of all of the aforementioned Maroon and White squares and results to create the fillers between each of the Kittens & Pinkies as needed for this quilt block.)
