Massachusetts Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Turquoise: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square. (This will be the upper right-hand corner of this quilt block.)
- Turquoise:Â Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 4 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. You only need THREE (3) of these Half-Square Triangles for this quilt block.)
- Turquoise: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the White 5 1/4″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square. (This will be the lower left-hand corner of this quilt block.)
- White:Â Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Turquoise 4 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. You only need THREE (3) of these Half-Square Triangles for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the Turquoise 5 1/4″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
