Turkey’s Nest Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Brown: Cut FIVE (5) 3 7/8″ squares. (These are flanked by the results of the White
    3 3/4″ squares which will create FIVE (5) Square in a Squares. FOUR (4) of these Square in a Squares are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. The remaining ONE (1) Square in a Square is the center of this quilt block.)
  • Gold: Cut EIGHT (8) 3 1/4″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 1/4″ squares which will create SIXTEEN (16) Half-Square Triangles.)
  • Gold: Cut EIGHT (8) 2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Gold/White Half-Square Triangles.)
  • Gold: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ x 3″ rectangles. (These are sewn between the Gold/White Half-Square Triangles.)
  • White: Cut TEN (10) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank the Brown 3 7/8″ squares to create FIVE (5) Square in a Squares. FOUR (4) of these Square in a Squares are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. The remaining ONE (1) Square in a Square is the center of this quilt block.)

Swing Star Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Yellow: Cut FOUR (4) 3 3/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Blue 6 3/8″ square which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)
  • Yellow: Cut ONE (1) 3 7/8″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It is paired with the Lt. Blue 3 7/8″ squares.)
  • Lt. Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Yellow 3 7/8″ square in the center of this quilt block. They are also paired with the results of the Blue 6 3/8″ squares.)
  • Teal: Cut FOUR (4) 3 3/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles are paired with the Yellow/Blue Flying Geese.)
  • Blue: Cut ONE (1) 6 3/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are flanked by the results of the Yellow 3 3/4″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)
  • Blue: Cut ONE (1) 6 3/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are paired with the Lt. Blue
    3 7/8″ squares in the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the White 3 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners. They will also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners. They will also help create the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Gold: Cut SIX (6) 3 3/4″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 3/4″ squares which will create TWELVE (12) Half-Square Triangles. ONE (1) of these Half-Square Triangles is the upper left-hand corner of this quilt block.)
  • Gold: Cut SIX (6) 3 3/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles are paired with the Gold/White Half-Square Triangles on ONE (1) side. Then they are paired with the results of the White 7 3/4″ squares which will create FOUR (4) larger Half-Square Triangles.)

Pumpkin Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Green: Cut ONE 2 3/4″ square. (This is paired with the White 2 3/4″ square which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. Only ONE (1) of these Half-Square Triangles is needed for this quilt block. Once it is sewn together it is paired with the Green 2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangle. Then it is paired with the White 2″ square which will create the “stem” of the Pumpkin.)
  • Green: Cut ONE (1) 2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangle. (This is paired with the Green/White Half-Square Triangle & will help create the “stem” of the pumpkin.)
  • Orange: Cut ONE (1) 8 1/2″ x 12 1/2″ rectangle. (This is the body of the pumpkin. It’s paired with the White 3 3/4″ square. It is also paired with the White 4 1/4″ square. Once it is all sewn together it will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 2 3/4″ square. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (This is paired with the Green 2 3/4″ square which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. Only ONE (1) of these Half-Square Triangles is needed for this quilt block. Once it is sewn together it is paired with the Green 2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangle. Then it is paired with the White 2″ square which will create the “stem” of the Pumpkin.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 2″ square. (This is paired with the Green/White Half-Square Triangle. Once it is sewn together it will help create the “stem” of the pumpkin.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 3 3/4″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Orange 8 1/2″ x 12 1/2″ rectangle. Once they are sewn together they will create TWO (2) Snowball Corners.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/4″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Orange 8 1/2″ x 12 1/2″ rectangle. Once they are sewn together they will create TWO (2) Snowball Corners. They will also be the lower left-hand & the lower right-hand corners of this quilt block.)
