Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Gold: Cut ONE (1) 3 3/8″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the results of the White 2 7/8″ squares, which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square, as needed to sew it together.)
- Gold: Cut NINE (9) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares which will create EIGHTEEN (18) Half-Square Triangles. TWO (2) of these Half-Square Triangles are the upper left-hand & the lower right-hand corners of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are the lower left-hand & the upper right-hand corners of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank the Gold
3 3/8″ square, which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block as needed to sew it together.) - White: Cut NINE (1) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Gold 2 7/8″ squares which will create EIGHTEEN (18) Half-Square Triangles. TWO (2) of these Half-Square Triangles are the upper left-hand & the lower right-hand corners of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Square in a Square in the center of this quilt block. They’ll help create a “frame” around it on TWO (2) sides as needed to sew it together.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 2 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Square in a Square in the center of this quilt block. They’ll help create a “frame” around it on TWO (2) sides as needed to sew it together.)
