Star Power: Pineapple Star Quilt Block & Pineapple Star Variation Quilt Block

Pineapple Star Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

Yellow: Cut THIRTY-TWO (32) 1 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with all of the White rectangles, which will create THIRTY-TWO (32) Snowball Corners, as needed for this quilt block.)
Yellow: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will flank the White 2 1/2″ square which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)
Yellow: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/4″ squares. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will flank the White 3 1/2″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
White: Cut ONE (1) 2 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the results of the Yellow 3 1/4″ squares which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square.)
White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. They’re flanked by the results of the Yellow 4 1/4″ squares.)
White: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the Yellow 4 1/4″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
White: Cut FOUR (4) 1 1/4″ x 4″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Yellow 1 7/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Snowball Corners, as needed for this quilt block.)
White: Cut FOUR (4) 1 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Yellow 1 7/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Snowball Corners, as needed for this quilt block.)
White: Cut FOUR (4) 1 1/4″ x 6 7/8″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Yellow 1 7/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Snowball Corners, as needed for this quilt block.)
White: Cut FOUR (4) 1 1/4″ x 8 1/4″ rectangles (These are paired with the Yellow 1 7/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Snowball Corners, as needed for this quilt block.)

If you make TWELVE (12) “Pineapple Star Quilt Blocks,” you’ll end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished, 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.

Pineapple Star Variation Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

Lime Green: Cut ONE (1) 1 7/8″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the results of the White 1 7/8″ squares which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square.)
Lime Green: Cut THIRTY-TWO (32) 1 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with all of the White rectangles, which will create THIRTY-TWO (32) Snowball Corners, as needed for this quilt block.)

1 7/8″ square which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)
White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. They’re flanked by the results of the Lime Green 4 1/4″ squares.)
White: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the Lime Green 4 1/4″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
White: Cut FOUR (4) 1 1/4″ x 4″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Lime Green 1 7/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Snowball Corners, as needed for this quilt block.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

Red: Cut FOUR (4) 3 3/8″ squares. These are paired with the Pink 3 3/8″ squares. Together with the White 3 3/8″ square they’ll create the center of this quilt block.)
Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 3 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Red 3 3/8″ squares as well as the White 3 3/8″ square. Together they’ll create the center of this quilt block.)
Pink: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. These are paired with the results of thee Bright Pink 2 7/8″ squares & they’re also paired with the results of the White 2 7/8″ squares. Together they’ll create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles as needed for this quilt block.)
Bright Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the Pink 2 7/8″ squares & they’re also paired with the results of thee White 2 7/8″ squares. Together they’ll create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles as needed for this quilt block.)
White: Cut ONE (1) 3 3/8″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s paired with the Pink 3 3/8″ squares. Together with the Red 3 3/8″ squares they’ll create the center portion of this quilt block.)
White: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the Pink 2 7/8″ squares & they’re also paired with the results of thee Bright Pink 2 7/8″ squares. Together they’ll create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles as needed for this quilt block.)
White: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are the FOUR (2) corners of this quilt block.)
White: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These will flank TWO (2) sides of the Red 3 3/8″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
