Home Grown Star Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

Lt. Peach: Cut FOUR (4) 2 5/8″ squares. (These are paired with the results of the White 4 1/4″ squares. Then they’re paired with the results of the Lt. Peach 3 7/8″ squares, as well as being paired with the results of the Rust 7 1/4″ squares. All together they’ll create FOUR (4) Flying Geese as needed for this quilt block.)
Peach: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the White 3 1/4″ squares & they’re also paired with the results of the Lt. Peach 2 5/8″ squares. In addition to being paired with the results of the Rust 7 1/4″ square. All together they’ll create FOUR (4) Flying Geese as needed for this quilt block.
Rust: Cut ONE (1) 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired with the results of the Lt. Peach 2 5/8″ squares & they’re also paired with the results of the White 4 1/4″ squares. Then they’re paired with the results of the Peach 3 7/8″, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
White: Cut ONE (1) 4 3/4″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the results of the results of the Rust 7 1/4″ square.)
White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. They’re flanked by the results of the Rust 7 1/4″ square, as well as being flanked by the results of the Peach 3 7/8″ squares, as needed for this quilt block.)
White: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These will flank the Peach 2 5/8″ squares.They’ll also flank the results of the Rust 7 1/4″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)

Lt. Green: Cut FOUR (4) 2 5/8″ squares. (These are paired with the results of the White 4 1/4″ squares. Then they’re paired with the results of the Green 3 7/8″ squares, as well as being paired with the results of the Dk. Green 7 1/4″ squares. All together they’ll create FOUR (4) Flying Geese as needed for this quilt block.)
Green: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. They’re flanked by the results of the Rust 7 1/4″ square, as well as being flanked by the results of the Peach 3 7/8″ squares, as needed for this quilt block.)
White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the results of the Green 3 7/8″ square which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square.)
White: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Green 2 5/8″ squares. They’ll also flank the results of the Dk. Green 7 1/4″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)

Dk. Green: Cut ONE (1) 3 3/8″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the results of the Green 3 1/4″ squares.)
Dk. Green: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
Green: Cut EIGHT (8) 3 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 2 7/8″ squares, which will create SIXTEEN (16) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
White: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will be flanked by the results of the Green 3 1/4″ squares, which will create SIXTEEN (16) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
White: Cut TWO (2) 9 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Flying Geese as needed for this quilt block.)

Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 2 5/8″ squares. (These are paired with the 2 5/8″ x 4 3/4″ rectangles, which will form a “frame” around the center Square in a Square, as needed for this quilt block.)
Lt. Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 2 5/8″ x 4 3/4″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Pink 2 5/8″ squares, which will form a “frame” around the center Square in a Square, as needed for this quilt block.)
Fuchsia: Cut EIGHT (8) 2″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Four-Patch sections. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
Fuchsia: Cut EIGHT (8) 2″ squares. (These are flanked by the results of the White 2 3/8″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
Fuchsia: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the results of the White 4 1/4″ square which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square.)
White: Cut EIGHT (8) 2″ squares. (These are paired with the Fuchsia 2″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Four-Patch sections. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block)
White: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the Fuchsia 2″ squares & they’ll also flank the “frame” around the center of this quilt block.)
White: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will flank the Fuchsia 3 1/2″ square which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)

Friday Funday! The Allatoona Quilt Guild made my “Midnight Stargazer” BOM Quilt!

The Allatoona Quilt Guild from Acworth GA made my 2020 “Midnight Stargazer” BOM Quilt this past year!

The guild started 39-years-ago! About 12 women formed it & meetings were held in a quilt store. Now they have grown to about 100 members!

They used to hold monthly meetings, where they hand out the instructions, for the BOM quilt they are making. However due to Covid-19 they are not able to meet, so every month they were sent the instructions & each of the participating guild members made their “Midnight Stargazer” quilt blocks.

Red: Cut FOUR (4) 2 5/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Purple 2 3/8″ square & will help create the center of this quilt block.)
Purple: Cut ONE (1) 2 5/8″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s paired with the Red 2 3/8″ squares.)
Purple: Cut FOUR (4) 2 5/8″ squares. (These are flanked on ONE (1) side by the results of the White 2 3/8″ squares. They’re also flanked by the results of the White 3 3/8″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
Purple: Cut EIGHT (8) 3 3/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the White 3 1/2″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Snowball Corners, as needed for this quilt block.)
White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Purple 3 3/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Snowball Corners, as needed for this quilt block.)
