White Star Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Aqua: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 4 1/4″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- Aqua: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- Aqua: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired with TWO (2) sides of the Aqua/White Flying Geese. They’re also paired with ONE (1) side of the Aqua/White Half-Square Triangles. All are needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- Aqua: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ x 5 1/2″ rectangles. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. They’re paired with TWO (2) sides of the Aqua/White Flying Geese. They’re also paired with ONE (1) side of the Aqua/White Half-Square Triangles. All are needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Aqua 3 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Aqua/White Half-Square Triangles. They’ll help create the center of this quilt block as needed to sew it together.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are flanked by the results of the Aqua
2 3/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
White: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired with each other which will create ONE (1) Quarter-Square Triangle. This is then the center of this quilt block as needed to sew it together.)

If you sew TWELVE (12) “White Star Quilt Blocks” you’ll end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished, 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.
