Free Trade Star Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Red: Cut ONE (1) 3 7/8″ square. (This is paired with the White 3 7/8″ square which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. Once they’re sewn together with the White 3 1/2″ squares they’ll create the center of this quilt block.)
- Red: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 7 1/4″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the TWO (2) HST’s & all together will create the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 3 7/8″ square. On the back side of the square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (This is paired with the Red 3 7/8″ square which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. Once they’re sewn together with the White 3 1/2″ squares they’ll create the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are flanked by the results of the Red 3 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
