Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Pink: Cut EIGHT (8) 1 1/4″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Pink 1 1/4″ x 6 7/8″ rectangles which will create EIGHT (8) Snowball Corners. They’ll also help create the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- Pink: Cut EIGHT (8) 1 1/4″ x 6 7/8″ rectangles. (These are paired with the results of the Pink
1 1/4″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Snowball Corners. They’ll also help create the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.) - Red: Cut TWO (2) 1 1/4″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Red 1 1/4″ x 7 5/8″ rectangles. They’re also the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- Red: Cut FIVE (5) 1 1/4″ squares. (These are paired with the White 1 1/4″ squares which will create ONE (1) Nine-Patch block. They’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)
- Red: Cut FOUR (4) 1 1/4″ x 7 5/8″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Red 1 1/4″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- Red: Cut FOUR (4) 1 1/4″ x 3″ rectangles. (These are paired on ONE (1) side with the White 3″ squares & they’re paired on ONE (1) other side with the results of the White 5 3/4″ squares. They’ll help “frame” the center of this quilt block.)
- Red: Cut FOUR (4) 1 1/4″ x 3 5/8″ rectangles. (These are paired one ONE (1) side with the White 3″ squares & on ONE (1) other side they’re paired with the results of the White 5 3/4″ squares. They’ll help “frame” the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 1 1/4″ squares. (These are paired with the Red 1 1/4″ squares which will create ONE (1) Nine-Patch Block. They’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 3″ squares. (These are paired on ONE (1) side by the Red 1 1/4″ x 3″ rectangles & they’re paired on ONE (1) other side by the Red 1 1/4″ x 3 5/8″ rectangles. They’ll also help to create the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 5 3/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These will flank on ONE (1) side the Red 1 1/4″ x 3″ rectangles & they’re paired on ONE (1) other side by the Red 1 1/4″ x 3 5/8″ rectangles. As needed for this quilt block.)

If you make TWELVE (12) “Candy Canes Quilt Blocks,” you’ll end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished, 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.
