Bride’s Star Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Salmon: Cut EIGHT (8) 1 1/2″ squares. (These are flanked by the Half-Square Triangles as needed for this quilt block.)
- Salmon: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the White 3 3/8″ square which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)
- Green: Cut TWELVE (12) 1 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 1 7/8″ squares, which will create TWENTY-FOUR (24) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Green: Cut FOUR (4) 1 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 3 1/4″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Green: Cut ONE (1) 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will flank the star in the center of this quilt block which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square.
- White: Cut ONE (1) 3 3/8″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the results of the Salmon 2 7/8″ squares which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 1 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of the star in the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWELVE (12) 1 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Green 1 7/8″ squares, which will create TWENTY-FOUR (24) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWELVE (12) 1 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Green 7 1/4″ square as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are flanked by the results of the Salmon
2 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying geese, as needed for this quilt block.)

- Lt. Blue: Cut TWELVE (12) 1 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 1 7/8″ squares, which will create TWENTY-FOUR (24) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
