Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Lt. Blue 2 1/2″ squares & with the White 2 1/2″ squares. Together they’ll create FOUR (4) Four-Patch squares. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- Lt. Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Blue 2 1/2″ squares & with the White 2 1/2″ squares. Together they’ll create FOUR (4) Four-Patch squares. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- Lt. Blue: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 4 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Lt. Blue 2 1/2″ squares & with the Blue 2 1/2″ squares. Together they’ll create FOUR (4) Four-Patch squares. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Lt. Blue 4 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block.)

If you make TWELVE (12) “Water Wheel Quilt Blocks,” you’ll end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished, 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.
