Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Blue: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block.)
- Lt. Blue: Cut TWELVE (12) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares which will create TWENTY-FOUR (24) Half-Square Triangles. ONE (1) of these Half-Square Triangles will be the upper left-hand corner of this quilt block. Another ONE (1) will the the lower right-hand corner of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/2″ squares. (ONE (1) of these will be the upper right-hand corner of this quilt block. Another ONE (1) will be the lower left-hand corner of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWELVE (12) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of each square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Lt. Blue 2 7/8″ squares which will create TWENTY-FOUR (24) Half-Square Triangles. ONE (1) of these Half-Square Triangles will be the upper left-hand corner of this quilt block. Another ONE (1) will the the lower right-hand corner of this quilt block.)

If you make TWELVE (12) “Winged Quilt Blocks,” you’ll end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished, 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.
