Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Aqua: Cut FIVE (5) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are flanked by the results of the White 3 1/4″ squares, which will create the first FIVE (5) Square in a Square’s, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Aqua: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the White 5 1/4″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Navy Blue: Cut TEN (10) 3″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the Aqua 2 1/2″ squares, which will create the second FIVE (5) Square in a Square’s, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FIVE (5) 3 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These will flank the Aqua 2 1/2″ squares, which will create the first FIVE (5) Square in a Square’s, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. - Navy Blue: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. You only need TWO (2) of these triangles for this quilt block. (These are paired with the results of the White 5 1/4″ squares, which will create ONE (1) Quarter-Square Triangle. It’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)
- Navy Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These will flank the White
