French Silk Pie Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Tan: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles. (These are flanked on TWO (2) sides, by the results of the Light Brown 5″ squares, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Light Brown: Cut TWO (2) 5″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the results of the Beige 3″ squares & the Brown 2 1/2″ squares. Which will create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles. They will also be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
- Brown: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the results of the Beige 3″ squares & the results of the Light Brown 5″ squares. Which will create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles. They will also be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
- Brown: Cut FOUR (4) 3″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Beige 5 1/4″ square which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese. They will also help in creating the center of this quilt block.)
- Beige: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square. (This will be flanked by the results of the Brown 3″ squares. It’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)
- Beige: Cut FOUR (4) 3″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the Brown
2 1/2″ square & the results of the Light Brown 5″ square. Which will create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles. They will also be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.) - Beige: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will be flanked by the results of the Brown 3″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese. They will also help in creating the center of this quilt block.)
